At its beginning, Dzogbefa was working on the bare ground in his courtyard ... This situation was obviously temporary.
Kenneth had already bought a small piece of land in the surroundings of the city Ho. He build a small workshop there, but there was not yet electricity, and also no running water. This is when association Afrik'Arte comes into play.
The association has led a crowdfunding campaign during spring 2018 to raise a goal of 5000 € meant at bringing a water circuit, electricity and a water drainage system to the working place. The crowdfunding was successful and Afrik' Arte has gathered 5425 € on the collaborative platform Kisskissbankbank. With other donations, the amont collected is close to 6000 €.
The electrical circuit and the water connection have now been brought to the workshop and makes the workshop a better place to make batik at. It is now left for the wastewater drainage.
For the wastewater drainage system, Dzogbefa plans to organize an open yard:
the aim is to build a natural drainage system with plants made by the community and by members of Afrik' Arte.
If you want to get involved in the project, please send us an email. We will keep you posted.
